You can combine history and beer at the annual McMenamins’ Olympic Club Brewfest in Centralia this weekend. McMenamins’ Washington brewers and guest brewers will be pouring their best, including Elliott Bay Brewing, Loowit Brewing, Mt. Tabor Brewing, and Fishtail Brewing. Soak up the atmosphere with a tour of the historic Olympic Club Brewery or relax in the outdoor seating and check out the live entertainment. The menu includes “the world’s best baked beans” and open-pit barbecue specials. The fun begins at 6 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday at the brewpub, 112 N. Tower Ave., Centralia. Admission is free.

The Washington State Spring Fair, the mini-version of the “big” fair each fall, will open Thursday for a four-day run that will include animals, rides, free music and entertainment, plus vendors and Motorsport Mayhem. Hours are 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday at the Washington State Fairgrounds, 110 Ninth Ave. SW, Puyallup. Admission is $8-$10; children 5 and younger are free. Seattle artist Sera Cahoone is known for her hushed Americana music, and she has a new album coming out, “The Flora String Sessions,” that revisits some of her fan favorites. She will perform their new arrangements at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Capitol Theater, 206 Fifth Ave. SE, Olympia. The Olympia Symphony Orchestra is joining forces with the Olympia Choral Society and Timberline High School Symphonic Choir to perform Beethoven’s epic Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, Op. 125, as part of its “Coming Full Circle” concert on Sunday. The 7 p.m. concert at the Washington Center for Performing Arts, 512 Washington St. SE, also will feature “Overture to Don Giovanni” by Mozart and the premiere of “Festschrift” by local composer and violist Austin Schlichting. With ties to East Los Angeles, Las Cafeteras creates a musical fusion of Afro-Mexican rhythms, zapateado, and lyrics telling stories of the community. The group adds Afro-Caribbean marimbol, cajon and poetry in English and Spanglish. See them at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at The Washington Center for the Performing Arts, 512 Washington St. SE, Olympia. Outdoor lovers, take note: The Wild & Scenic Film Festival will roll into Saint Martin’s University’s Worthington Conference Center, 5300 Pacific Ave. SE, Lacey, for a night of films, food and community building. The festival will screen a collection of films from the annual festival held the third week of January in Nevada City, California, that focus on environmental concerns and celebrations of the planet. Celebrate the oyster at the annual Hama Hama Oyster Rama with all types of oyster dishes, shellfish and other food plus classes on cooking with fire, introduction to caviar and more. As part of the Celebration of the Species series, the Olympia Timberland Library, 313 Eighth Ave. SE, is hosting pig extraordinaire Amy Trotter and her human companion Lori Stock for a family-friendly event from 7:30-8:45 p.m. Thursday.
